The scary thing, to me, is not the activist left peacefully protesting outside the homes of Supreme Court justices and supervising their restaurant choices.
It’s the Sri Lanka thing. Gosh, geniuses, Klaus Schwab and Bill Gates, whaddya say about the total economic and political collapse in Sri Lanka after they went full bore on your scientific plan to end use of non-organic fertilisers? Time for a meeting of the educated up at Magic Mountain to review the progress so far?
By the way, Bill Gates. What exactly is your cunning plan with regard to buying up a bunch of farmland?
And the Dutch farmers, that are being hammered because the great and the good have decided that they need to reduce their nitrogen emissions, peasants?
What I realize about this is my rule about politics. That you can never admit you are wrong. This means that when you are doing something that is a colossal error, you can’t admit it. Maybe you can’t even allow yourself to admit within yourself that something is wrong. Thus, in politics it is almost impossible to fix anything until it has become a complete trainwreck.
So we cannot stop the current foolishness until it is obvious to even New York Times readers that something is wrong.
The question is: are we in the middle of a trainwreck — on the stimulus, inflation, green energy, nitrogen fertiliser front — that is enough of a disaster that it will flush everyone from Joe Biden to the Democrats in Congress to Klaus Schwab to George Soros to Bill Gates outta here and tell ‘em to put it where the sun don’t shine?
It would require enough of a trainwreck that Republican politicians from president on down would feel perfectly comfortable going full-bore against green energy and nitrogen-less farming to the extent of saying, over and over, about greenies and WEFers and EUers and bureaucrats and scientists that “they lied.” No, it won’t be a question of negotiating “disinformation” and “misinformation” on social media. It will be a messaging environment in the aftermath of a meltdown in which our Democratic friends, our green energy friends, our organic farming friends and their conventional wisdom apologists in the media and in the academy are running for cover. It would be because there’s a full-on depression, with the hungry in the streets and no way to finesse it with the usual ruling-class message machine.
So you can see that the trainwreck, the meltdown, the disaster would have to be big enough that even nice liberal ladies with their #WeBelieve signs would be jolted into wondering if all the stuff they have been taught, and all the mask-wearing and “EV” buying and organic food eating and all the things that good women do, because “kindness is everything”, has got to the point where the ladies don’t like to talk about it.
Remember, our Democratic friends will never admit that they were wrong and that they believed a load of rubbish; that’s not how the world works. They will say to each other that some malevolent influence did it.
The job of the next generation of Republican politicians and opposition writers is to find a suitable Satan on which we can all agree is the source of all evil and malevolence. A scapegoat, if you are a student of René Girard.
You can see that it has to be worse than right now. Right now, our Democratic friends still think they can dump Trump with their J6 Committee. They are still going full-bore on stopping fossil fuels. They still have faith in the administrative state. They are still writing “experts agree” on all their agenda items. They can still fool a lot of the people a lot of the time with conspiracy theories like Russia, Russia.
How bad does it have to get before they lose all their credibility? Frankly, I don’t even want to think about it. Because I think that things weren’t bad enough in Canada when the truckers revolted against the Canadian COVID lockdown regime. Things probably aren’t bad enough in the Netherlands for the EU ruling class to reverse itself on nitrogren fertilisers. But who wants to wait for total collapse like Sri Lanka? And yet, would anything short of a total collaps shut them up?
And by the way, let us recall the line of Enoch Powell about the European Union. It cannot work, he said, because there is no European demos, no European People. So there is nobody that can be thrown out of office in the EU in an election, and it’s the EU that is directing traffic on climate change. You think that might be a problem?
See, the genius of elective politics is not that Democracy represents the Will of the People, the General Will of Rousseau. It is that, when things go really wrong the voters can get a change of government by a means short of having a full-on civil war. And that, in my opinion, is the thing to hope for. That in 2022 and 2024 here in the good old USA we get two 60-40 eections, a midterm this year that has a 60-80 seat swing in the House of Representatives, and a presidential election in 2024 that elects a Republican with 60-40 in the popular vote.
Of course, it didn’t matter that Richard Nixon won 60-40 in 1972. Because the Democrats still had majorities in Congress. But this time, Watergate II might not work. Not if the Dems don’t have a majority in the House and a solid majority in the Senate.
Because the sooner we stop the madness, and the sooner that the Geniuses lose their confidence, and the sooner that Americans turn away from anything and everything that the Geniuses are ramming down our throats, the better for ordinary Americans and ordinary people all over the world.
