What Went Wrong: Second Guessing

Yeah! What happened to the red tsunami yesterday on November 8, 2022? It’s time for the second guessing and the post-mortems, because we are all so much wiser after the event.

• Independents don’t like Trump.

• Trump’s MAGA candidates underperformed.

• Girls want abortion available even if they don’t talk about it.

• Unmarried women voted D by 37 points.

• Biden’s ultra-MAGA enemy talk worked.

• All those trillions of Biden handouts worked.

• Voters say they want more government, not less.

• Educated laptop workers are doin’ fine.

• Mail-in ballots are really good for Dems.

• Republican politicians are idiots.

• Dems really believe in politics and loot and plunder and GOPs don’t.

• Kids really like student loan forgiveness.

But then, what was different about 1994 and 2010 where Republicans gained 54 seats and 64 seats in the House? Maybe the difference is that in both years the Dems went into the midterms with ~80 seat majorities. Plenty of room below. In 2022 the Dems went into the election with a majority under 10.

Oh well. Better luck next time!
