As we know, our rulers rule using a “political formula” that they are the Allies of the Oppressed Peoples in their fight against the White Oppressors.
I assume that by “White Oppressors” are meant corporate execs, billionaires, extreme ultra-MAGAs, and gun owners.
Yet Rasmussen has done a poll of the top 1%, “The Elite 1% Project.” And if you want to define White Oppressors, you got it. The top 1% have postgraduate degrees, live in densely populated urban areas, and earn more than $150,000 a year.
Newt Gingrich and Scott McKay have written about this report, and they have all the numbers.
But I want to concentrate on “86 percent are white; 73 percent are Democrats; 84 percent approve of Joe Biden;” oh and
74 percent of them say they’re actually better off financially than they were before COVID (only 20 percent of the rest of us say so);
Definition: The ruling class always takes care of its own.
Of course, the Elite is all-in on climate change and restrictions on ordinary people.
Then there is immigration — from the Rasmussen poll.
Voters: Border security and immigration are in the top two or three listed issues.
Elites: Not a single respondent mentioned border security or immigration.
And just one more: Education
Voters: Vast majority of voters say they want good-paying jobs for those who don’t have a college degree.
Elite: Majority of elites say everyone needs to have a college degree.
I was reading a piece by Shaomin Li worrying that China would conquer the world.
the Chinese Communist Party manages the whole of China as a giant corporation, which I call China, Inc., with the CCP as the management and the general secretary as the CEO. The CCP can mobilize the resources of the entire country to compete as a company in the world market. China is the only country in the world that practices this model.
For instance, China Inc. stole Tesla’s technology and now is “the largest EV producer and exporter in the world.”
Yes, but suppose that the “Elite 1%” has already bought their fashionable EVs and the rest of the world says “thanks very much, but you’ll take my gas-powered SUV out of my cold dead hands.” Then China’s forced march into EV production will maybe rank with the Great Leap Forward and its current real-estate crash as utter failures of top-down government that result in misery for millions of ordinary people.
My Four Laws say that the agenda of the “Elite 1%,” whether here in the US or in China, Does Not Work.
Socialism does not work, because prices.
Administrative government does not work, because bandwidth.
Regulation does not work, because “regulatory capture.”
Government programs do not work because you can never reduce them.
And good luck to Javier Milei in Argentina trying to change that.
What all this means is simply that a top-down economy driven by an Educated Elite — whether in a socialist paradise or the administrative state — does not work, because the market economy does not work top-down like a conquering army. The market economy is a horizontal social network, of ideas and prices and promises, that changes every day. From government it just needs law courts to deal with bad actors.
I say that the Educated Class was made possible by the Gutenberg printing press that allowed for mass-produced ideas in the form of books. By the 18th century the Educated Class mounted political revolutions in which it replaced the old regime descended from feudal warriors.
But, after gaining power, the new Educated Ruling Class had to create a “political formula,” a moral basis to justify its power. This moral basis has been that the rulers are the protectors or the allies of the oppressed classes.
First the rulers said they were fighting for the workers, then women, then blacks, and now LGBT. It was all a ruse, of course, merely a means of justifying their political power.
And I say that the Educated Class has Made Things Worse. It has imprisoned the workers in the welfare state, while the jobs go overseas to developing countries. It has provided free sex and careers for educated women, but a moral wilderness for ordinary women. It has made blacks into consumers of government handouts and destroyed the black family. It has taught sexual deviants —nearly all from the Educated Class — that they are helpless victims and that, hey, who cares about marriage and children and grandchildren.
And the Educated Class has crippled the economy in a spider’s web of regulation and top-down supervision.
What Rasmussen’s poll has done is to freeze frame our Educated Class and its Narrative and its top-down agenda.
It also shows why the rule of the Educated Class has been so harmful and demoralizing for the ordinary middle class.
