Yes, yes. It’s a humiliation that Speaker Johnson put together the ridiculous 1,546 page continuing resolution that just went down in flames. And right-on that Trump is outraged and Elon went on a 12-hour rampage on X / Twitter exoriating the thing. And I saw that someone used AI to ferret out all the pork-barrel spending.
Wow. Up to this moment, I really didn’t see how AI could be useful!
And my beloved Rep. Jayapal (D-WA) is busy tweeting that Elon Musk and Trump are “just billionaires that don’t care at all about poor and working people.”
(By the way: if you check the replies to Japapal’s tweet, the repliers are obviously hungry. They wouldn’t mind eating Jayapal for lunch.)
Yes, sweetie, so true. But you, Pramila, are “Oz, the great and powerful” Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. How can you let this sort of thing go on without mostly peacefully protesting in front of the US Capitol? Don’t you care about poor and working people?
But I have a question for the world. What were President Trump and Elon and Vivek and Speaker Johnson doing at the Army-Navy game when they weren’t taking selfies with subway hero Daniel Penny?
Huh?
I have a theory. I believe that the whole thing was planned: a conspiracy! I believe that the Fabulous Four agreed that they’d let the whole thing blow up. Then Speaker Johnson would go on FoxNews and say Aw Shucks. As planned. Then Elon would mount a 12-hour blitz on X / Twitter. As planned.
Because when you are preparing to rout your political opponents starting on January 20, 2025, what is better than to stage an unexpected ambush on the enemy’s supply lines a month before the official battle commences? I’m not sure what Sun Tzu and von Clausewitz would recommend, but I’m sure they would give at least grudging approval.
Of course, the Senate is still in Democrat hands until January 6, or whenever the new Congress meets. So we can’t blame Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) for one last college try under the old rules before Christmas.
The question before all of us, from Trump on down to the lowliest MAGA racist-sexist-homophobe, is whether Trump & Co. will really be able to change the rules. It won’t be easy, but at least we seem to have the best players possible on the playing field ready to play.
You may be right. All the world's a stage, after all.
