Everybody knows that the Democratic Party is a mess — with the president backing out of reelection to be replaced by the unelectable Kamala Harris. And it is all Joe Biden’s fault.
Day to day, we are being regaled with the machinations of the various crime family bosses, from Pelosi to the Clintons to Obama. And meanwhile I am seeing articles about how Harris staffers are strategizing the campaign ahead and how young voters are just what the doctor ordered for Harris. And how Asian voters have vacillated between the two parties.
But I like to keep things Real Simple.
What if it’s all Obama’s fault?
Back in 2009, the moderate candidate of Hope and Change went full Obamacare and lost the House in 2010. Oh and he had Lois Lerner throw the Tea Party to the wolves. Great work, Barry.
Then in 2016 Obama deselected his Vice President Biden and chose the First Woman President Hillary Clinton as his heir. Who lost to Donald Trump. Way to go, Barry.
Then in 2020, sources say, it was Obama that stitched up the Biden candidacy to avoid having Bernie Sanders at the head of the ticket. Yay, Barry!
And now either Obama or Pelosi or the Clintons — or all three — have pushed Biden aside in favor of far-woke candidate and First Black Woman President Kamala Harris.
May I just say something? Otto von Bismarck this is not.
In other words, I don’t see a strategic mind at work here. I mentioned that a couple of days ago. I believed that we were seeing typical end-of-regime events, and Keystone Kops reenactments.
No, wait. I shouldn’t be so dismissive. The strategic mind is a rarity, in politics as anywhere else.
At the presidential level, I’d say that FDR was strategic, although not in a good way. I’d say that Eisenhower was strategic. And Reagan, even though experts agreed he was an “amiable dunce.”
Trump? We shall see. It could be that — with the selection of JD Vance — Trump sets up the Republican Party as the party of the ordinary middle class for the next 30 years.
But back to Obama. I believe, first of all, that Obama is a lightweight. They say he was radicalized by lefty black intellectual Frank Marshall Davis in Hawaii. But the main fact about Obama is that he was wafted aloft by people that pushed him along. Influential people wanted a black senator from Illinois. They wanted a First Black President.
Then, of course, Obama didn’t “retire” after two terms in office. That’s why he moved to a mansion in Washington DC after leaving office. He wanted to be the man behind the throne. But I just don’t think he is very good at it.
Know what I think? I think that ten years from now, experts will agree that the leaders of the Democratic Party, in particular Barack Obama, lacked any kind of vision about what the Democratic Party should stand for, other than pushing the various woke extremisms.
And all the talk about “Trumpian chaos” and Trump-proofing the US misses the point. If you want a better world than Trump offers, then come up with ideas and a movement that offers a better world than the anodyne agenda of making America great for the ordinary middle class.
Making America great for the ordinary middle class: now there’s an idea. Hey, Barry, got a moment?
