Edward Ring has a long article at American Greatness about energy and how the global elite, the WEF fly-private set, is wrong about energy, that wind and solar will never “lift us into prosperity.” So buckle and read his article.
It will be dry and tedious reading. And perhaps that’s why journalists, activists, bureaucrats, and politicians have accepted the delusion.
But I think that misses the point. The problem is that the “journalists, activists, bureaucrats, and politicians” all think they are the smart guys and their Baldrick’s Cunning Plan is the best way to create the future.
As I say in my American Thinker piece: No. “Stay in Your Lane!” The simple fact is that “journalists, activists, bureaucrats, and politicians” know nothing about energy. Or the economy. Or anything except playing political musical chairs in the Capitol while the rest of us toil away in the Districts.
I suppose that all rulers since whenever have had a Monument Complex. They can’t think of anything better to do than to build a gigantic monument to their greatness, whether it’s a Pharaoh spending all the peasants’ food on pyramids or the Russian Tsars building a magnificent capital city at St. Petersburg. And don’t get me started on Louis XIV and Versailles.
But I think our modern rulers are worse. They think they are so clever that they can direct the economy. That’s what Stalin thought. That’s what Mao thought. That’s what FDR thought. That’s what Obama’s “fundamental transformation” was all about.
And that’s what Klaus Schwab and his World Economic Forum is about. And that is what climate change is all about. Klausi and the fly-private set think that they are the guys to save us all from climate change and a bunch of other problems. Because they are the smart guys.
You know, don’t you, that the climate game was started by a Canadian, Maurice Strong. Strong, as head of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) back in the 1970s, realized that if the United Nations was to be anything it had to be fighting to solve global problems. Just like a national government has to be fighting its own enemies. So why not climate? La Wik says:
As head of UNEP, Strong convened the first international expert group meeting on climate change.
And that grew into the IPCC and its fearless forecasts about runaway temperature that would melt the polar icecaps.
It may be that we humans are in a runaway climate trend that will boil the oceans well before the current interglacial period ends and we descend back into an Ice Age. But “journalists, activists, bureaucrats, and politicians” are not the ones to do it.
Because the economy runs on millions of actors adapting to changing conditions and one or two guys from out of left field having a brilliant idea that turns out to have brilliant results.
And if the earth’s climate really starts heating up, believe me, there will be Elon Musks and Steve Jobs and Andrew Carnegies that will appear out of nowhere to figure out what to do.
Because the energy “system” relies on ten of thousands of people in the energy industry responding to market signals and, every decade or so, coming up with brilliant ideas like drilling for oil instead of hunting whales, or horizontal fracking, or any one of hundreds of ideas that you and I never heard of.
And the only way the current madness will stop is when the current “journalists, activists, bureaucrats, and politicians” bring on a Great Depression and the whole current ruling class of “journalists, activists, bureaucrats, and politicians” gets thrown out and replaced by a new ruling class that, for a few years, will be humble enough to stay in its lane and let the market take care of everything except world wars.
