It’s easy to get outraged by the decisions of the California Reparations Task Force and San Francisco’s African American Reparations Advisory Committee. But why? Handing out bennies to supporters is what governments do.
Blacks are the most devoted supporters of the Democratic Party. When you vote 90 percent for your party you expect to be rewarded. In cash. It’s just like the good old days. At the end of a successful campaign, the army leader hands out loot and plunder and slaves to his loyal soldiers, the lucky ones that survived. Because let me tell you, forget about combat death and wounds. In the good old days plenty of soldiers died of disease on campaign.
If you read the Narrative writers — and that includes almost everyone — they all agree what a Good Thing social spending is, whether it’s education, pensions, health care, welfare, you name it.
But why do you think that all social spending is pushed by the Democrats? It’s because their voters are the primary beneficiaries of social spending, and because all good people agree that it’s the right thing to do.
I don’t. But I’m just a crazy voice crying in the wilderness. I do think, however, that if the government weren’t spending all the money on social spending it would be spending it on wars and stuff. Because that’s what governments do.
So the Reparations Thing is following an ancient trail in the forest. First, create a Narrative about a helpless victim exploited and oppressed since the Dawn of Time. Once you have sold the Good People on the Helpless Victim Narrative then you are ready to propose your Reparations Program.
But I would guess that the California and San Francisco Reparations programs will run into a bit of a problem. Right now Hispanics are a bigger voting block in California than blacks, and my spies tell me that Hispanics don’t think that highly of blacks.
So my question is: what’s in it for the Hispanics?
The thing about most government programs is that there is the illusion that everybody benefits. But this Reparations thing is so obviously just for blacks that I think that our Democratic friends may get into a bit of trouble with it.
And then, if the program doesn’t pass, or if it gets struck down in the courts, I wonder what your average black mama will think when it comes time to vote. I just hope that there aren’t any mostly peaceful protests. That would be very sad.
I wonder what the pay out will be for "half blacks"
