Why, oh why, do our Democratic friends immediately blame Republican and right-wing conspiracy theories so much?
For instance, the attack on Paul Pelosi, husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, has been blamed by regime media on the extreme elements in the Republican Party that threaten “our democracy.”
Newsbusters reports that regime website Politico featured eleven stories about the Pelosi break-in on their front page.
Why, oh why?
Because, we Schmitt followers say, there is no politics without an enemy. Especially when things aren’t going too well for your side. That’s where Mircea Eliade comes in. Says he:
The primitive... cannot conceive of an unprovoked suffering; it arises from a personal fault... or from his neighbor's malevolence... but there is always a fault at the bottom of it[.]
See what I mean? If some drugged-out loser bashes his way into the Pelosi mansion, and he has echoed right-wing conspiracy theories, then Republicans are to blame for inflaming the deplorables.
And doń’t get me started on orange-haired real-estate magnates.
And it is appropriate that in our latter days that lefty partisans would go for the enemy narrative.
Why? Because the whole left thing is based on the idea that a just society is built upon the right politics. It is politics that is going to winkle out injustice and bend the arc of history towards justice.
And what is the guy with the wrong politics? You got it: The Enemy.
As far as I know, we racist-sexist-homophobe far-right conspiracy theorists don’t have the same faith in politics. For us, I believe, politics and government are necessary evils. And don’t get your hope up that they will make a difference. Indeed, chances are that they will Make Things Worse.
So, when some crazy lefty shoots up the congressional baseball game, we tend to think: what else is new? I mean, the whole point of lefty politics is to rile people up about the monstrous injustices that the white oppressors have committed since the dawn of time. So of course some crazy loony is going to take matters into his own hands.
And I understand the frustrations of our lefty friends. I mean, after over a century of enlightened progressive politics, to think that there are still people out there consuming racist conspiracy theories! And want to cut taxes! And want to privatize Social Security! And still think that “the Jews” are behind every skullduggery! And dare to doubt the efficacy of diversity equity and inclusion administrators! Inconceivable, without the intervention of malevolent actors!
But when politics is your religion, then any opposing opinion or opposition party is immediately experienced and blown up into The Enemy. Because Carl Schmitt.
Here’s an interesting thought. Suppose you have spent the last century demonizing employers. Then white racists. Then patriachal white males. Then monstrous homophobes. Then worst of the worst, transphobes. Oh, and gun owners.
Do you not think that, at some point, you might goad these monsters into fighting back?
And that is the basic difference between us and them. They think we are The Enemy. I just think that they are clueless. Right AOC?
