So what really was the Big Idea with the Senate omnibus bill to solve the border, Ukraine, and Israel? One pundit, Sean Davis on X/Twitter said it’s all about ageing Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY).
McConnell has been slowly losing control of his conference due to his poor health, which his staff are unable to hide… and this is causing an existential crisis among incompetent McConnell staff and hangers-on… Without him, they are nothing, so he must be propped up and protected at all costs.
Anyway, it looks like the whole thing has blown up, and Tucker Carlson is in Russia prepping for an interview with Vladimir Putin.
Meanwhile Reason is running a piece showing how the entire Biden economic program has been about handing out bennies to Democrat constituencies and has done nothing to heal the economy after World War COVID.
Has it all been the fault of the Boomers? There’s a silly piece over at UnHerd talking about the Boomerdämmerung, the Twilight of the Boomers. I say: probably not. Hey, but it could be the Elite 1% taking all the goodies for themselves.
The problem with old men in charge is that they are old men. Twenty years ago they might have had the leadership skills to change the political direction, but not at 80 years old. And that goes for Trump too.
But then, if our leaders were younger then maybe they would be getting us into wars and bigger and better government programs and pedal-to-the-metal climate change. With the energy of youth.
Or, we can go with the Zman and note that the anti-“hate” industry is the same as the witchhunters of Salem and other places.
The Global Project Against Hate and Extremism could just as easily be called the Global Project Against Witchcraft and Sorcery and make more sense. The words “witchcraft” and “sorcery” have an agreed upon meaning while “hate” and “extremism” are reduced to nonsense words by the modern-day witch hunters.
Or, we could go to Humpty-Dumpty:
“When I use a word,” Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean – neither more nor less.” “The question is,” said Alice, “whether you can make words mean so many different things.” “The question is,” said Humpty Dumpty, “which is to be master——that's all.”
Ain’t that the truth!
And the point is that when our plans are going wrong, we attribute it to enemy action, rather than our own stupidity.
The plans of our liberal masters are going wrong in a big way. They could have figured this out if only they ever bothered to get out of their liberal bubble. But as we saw above with Sen. McConnell’s staffers, if McConnell retires they have to start looking for a job. What is a liberal outside the liberal bubble?
It’s the same in a market crash. People don’t see it until it’s too late and their stocks have already lost 50% of their value at the peak.
I was reading about the guys that shorted on subprime mortgages in “The Big Short.” Only, if they turned out to be wrong — or if Little Ben Bernanke had done his job and acted as “lender of last resort” as recommended by Walter Bagehot — we would never have heard of them.
