Our Democratic friends are superb at using the courts and the media to harass Republicans, conservatives, and middle-class white yahoos.

But do they have a long-term strategy here, or is it just the Mob asserting its command of the streets?

Yes, it really is shocking that Justice Thomas takes vacations with a billionaire and, oh no, has helped a penniless widow from his hometown — er, well, Pin Point, Georgia, is not exactly a town — and the billionaire helped with the school tuition for her son. Oh no!

And it is shocking that billionaire Donald Trump is accused of having his wicked way with a damsel in distress twenty years ago.

And as for those Proud Boy J6ers: hey boys, when you let FBI informants spice up your on-line chats… Hey, I wonder if the FBI is involved with any of the 1,001 lefty activist groups, from AntiFa on down?

Maybe, with regime-approved insurrectionists, the FBI’s job is to cool their jets and make sure that all their riots are mostly peaceful, while with regime-unapproved insurrectionists, the FBI’s job is to provoke them into insurrectionality.

I guess the point is that most of the time, in politics, it’s all about the next election. You do what it takes to win. If you trash the norms of civility, or tie up your opponents in the legal system and remind the judges how nice it would be for them to get promoted to the appeals court, well, that’s just collateral damage.

And if you are the ruling class, and the media and the educated and the culture all bow to you magnificence, why not use your cultural power to make things happen?

Only I think that the Inner Party shutting out the Outer Party is not a good idea.

See, I think that it’s a good idea to let the peasants in every now and again. If it’s Reagan, he cleans up the economic mess of the Seventies, and the Dems still get to sneer at his achievements as “neoliberalism.” If it’s Bush, he gets to take the blame for the Iraq mess and then the implosion of the no-money-down real-estate mortgage meltdown. If it’s Trump, you get to blame him for everything.

And when you are the Inner Party you have the inside track, and you will keep getting back in power and giving more goodies to your supporters.

Of course, if you run out of other peoples’ money then chances are that your lower-class supporters will get hurt the most.

Meanwhile, we rulers gotta win the next election. Because democracy.
