President Biden issued an executive order in mid-February 2023 that established a Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) bureaucracy in the US government. It is headed by Susan Rice, Director of the US Domestic Policy Council. Christopher Rufo analyzes the move. In short,
“First, he’s creating internal cadres of DEI officers.”
“Second, he’s using this initiative to justify funding third party political activists”
“And third, he’s doubling down on the weaponization of civil rights law”
In my judgement, this is a Good Thing, and I will explain.
But first I want you to see this political move as a straight up illustration of Nazi jurist Carl Schmitt’s Concept of the Political. Schmitt wrote that the political is the distinction between friend and enemy. And Curtis Yarvin has made that idea “real simple” by writing that “there is no politics without an enemy.”
And I say that politics is all about fighting the enemy and rewarding your supporters.
So, I would say that, first and second above, President Biden is creating Jobs for Activists. And lefty woke activists are the Democrats’ core constituency. So, of course President Biden is sloshing tax money at lefty activists. It’s what a politician does.
Then I would say that, third above, of course he is weaponizing civil rights law against white oppressors. In the Allyship narrative, White Oppressors are the joint enemy of the Allies and the Oppressed Peoples. DEI is the glorious witness to the truth of oppression, and the white oppressors had better quake in their shoes as the tanks of the DEI activist army rumble forth onto the fruited plain.
Why is this monstrosity a Good Thing? Because it creates a massive target. It teaches ordinary Americans who the enemy is (because there is no politics without an enemy, remember). It creates the opportunity for a massive civil-rights lawsuit to go right to the Supreme Court. It provides the Republicans running for president in 2024 with a perfect issue to run on that will resonate with anyone that has to tiptoe on eggshells at work or at school.
And best of all, it should inspire Republican politicians at every level of government to ban, defund, and ferret out any and all monies going to Jobs for Activists. That’s activists in the government and activists outside the government in activist groups.
You wanna do activism, do it on your own dime, or with money from George Soros, or the Widow Jobs, or whoever. But not with money taken from the American people at gunpoint. Gunpoint? You do know that taxes are not voluntary, and that, if necessary, the gubmint will use force to make you pay, cupcake, right?
But why? Why would the Biden administration set itself up like this. Why send political ammo to Ron DeSantis, who seems to be setting himself up as the anti-woke candidate?
I think that it illustrates that there are no cool heads left in the Democratic Party, fake moderates like Bill Clinton that, a generation ago, tried to present the Democratic Party as a moderate party for ordinary people. The fact is that the Democratic Party of whites like Nancy Pelosi to Chuck Schumer to Joe Biden is aging out, and it is being replaced by radical non-white activists. For a generation, young people have been taught from K to grad-school that the highest form of life is to be an activist. And most people believe what they have been carefully taught. All those activists know no other way.
Earth to Democrats. I think you will find, sooner rather than later, that Americans really don’t like activists. And you know why? Because they are afraid of them. They know that the activist a couple of cubicles away at the office is looking for trouble, and would not hesitate to sacrifice them on the Altar of DEI.
And you know how people think of people they are afraid of? They think of them as the enemy — see Schmitt, Carl, Nazi jurist, above — and they look for someone, a leader, to protect them from the enemy.
Most people, most of the time, keep their heads down. They have a job to protect, a family to raise. They just don’t want to attract attention.
But, my nickel says that ordinary head-down people really hate being humiliated at woke struggle sessions at work or at college. Of course, I could be wrong.
