If you ask me, it was really dumb printing all that money back in March to June of 2020.

If you ask me it was really dumb keeping the lockdowns past the first month or so to flatten the curve.

If you ask me it was really dumb doing that big-time stimulus bill in early 2021.

If you ask me it was really dumb getting in the middle of Ukraine vs. Russia.

If you ask me it was really dumb for the Fed to stop printing money on January 1, 2022 (M2 has been dead flat for the last nine months).

If you ask me it was really dumb for the Fed to raise interest rates so fast that the gold price is going down.

If you ask me it is really dumb to imagine that the green energy transition is going to make a blind bit of difference to the Earth’s climate.

If you ask me is it really dumb not to understand that the green energy transition is going to have devastating economic effects world wide and that millions will suffer and starve.

And so on.

But let us assume that our liberal friends really believe that all that stuff was Making Things Better.

Let us assume that our liberal friends didn’t see the Trump effect coming, and so were completely blindsided when he won the 2016 election. And let’s assume that they and their globalist pals also really think that Victor Orbán in Hungary, the Brexiteers in Britland, Marine Le Pen in France, the Sweden Democrats, Gloria Meloni and the Fratelli d’Italia, etc. are Literally Hitler.

Let us assume that our liberal friends really think that Trump’s 30,000 lies was an unprecedented collapse in public trust, and that they honestly can’t see that Biden’s lies are just the same or worse.

Let us look at all this and assume that our liberal friends are not mere authoritarian thugs, but just doing what they have been carefully taught, K thru grad school. And, of course, because they know that they are the educated ones, the enlightened ones, their ideas and policies are the right ones.

So of course, the problem is right-wing conspiracy groups, and election deniers, and J6 insurrectionists, and abortion opponents, and Trump’s classified documents improperly stored at Mar a Lago, and migrants illegally flown to Martha’s Vineyard.

So, what do you do with a ruling class that is off in La La Land and doesn’t have a clue that it is driving the nation off a cliff?

I guess Step One is give them a blow to the solar plexus in the upcoming midterm elections.

But then what?

Because I would say that our liberal friends haven’t learned a thing from Reaganomics and the 1980s. They haven’t learned a thing from the real-estate meltdown and Crash of 2008. They haven’t learned a thing from the failure of the Obama stimulus to restart the economy after 2008.

And that’s to say nothing of how welfare and the Great Society hammered blacks and the lower class generally. And how education is an expensive mess that fails to educate lower-class kids and puts young adults into decades of debt poverty. And how government subsidies for home mortgages has jerked home prices into the stratosphere and hammers the young generation. Our liberal friends live in their liberal group mind and have No Idea about these issues.

The fact is that we are never going to persuade our liberal friends that all their ideas and programs stink and Make Things Worse for ordinary Americans. Our liberal friends are in a cult, and the way that you deal with a cult is that you let it wither on the vine so that, after a while, the enthusiasts get less enthusiastic, and the less enthusiastic start to drift away, and then…

Meanwhile, it is up to us to address Latinos and blacks directly and tell them that we are the guys that will help them climb into the middle class with good jobs at good wages with low inflation and affordable housing and safe streets and school choice and a steady and growing economy.

Back in 1992 the Democrats had lost three presidential elections in a row. So they turned over a new leaf and said that they were New Democrats. Until the day after the 1992 election.

We’ll know we are winning when the Democrats tell us that, really, really this time, they are New Democrats, cross your heart and hope to die.
