According to Paul Kengor, our activist friends have been peacefully protesting at Plymouth Rock.
[The activists are] protesting what they describe as “the genocide of millions of Native people, the theft of Native lands and the erasure of Native cultures.” They urge: “Help shatter the untrue image of the Pilgrims and the unjust system based on racism, settler colonialism, sexism, homophobia and the profit-driven destruction of the Earth that they and other European settlers introduced to these shores.”
I suppose for our lefty friends Year Zero is 1492 and Columbus sailed the ocean blue — to colonize the innocent Native lands of the Americas. Followed by Year One and the Atlantic Slave Trade — the profit-driven destruction of the Americas to produce drugs: sugar and tobacco. And then worst of all, Year Three: the arrival of religious extremists at Plymouth Rock on an imperial mission determined to See the USA in a Chevrolet. OMG, the profits!
Frankly, I’m not going to listen to a word from those activists until they have taken down the statues in Russia of the devoted activist Joseph Stalin, on whose watch millions of Ukrainians died in the Holodomor. But how many died? Was it 2.5 million? 4.8 million? 5 million? Experts don’t agree. There are, according to La Wik, numerous Holodomor memorials, so I am sure that you lefty activists regularly organize mostly peaceful trips to the Ukraine to visit those sites.
Then there was Chinese activist Mao Zedong. Estimates of the deaths in the Great Leap Forward at La Wik range from 15 million to 55 million. Are there memorials to the Great Leap Forward? Not so much, according to The New York Times.
Question for you Allies: What were the two worst slave states in human history?
Answer: The Soviet Union and the Peoples Republic of China.
Any questions?
I tell you what amazes me. It is that, beginning in about 1800, slavery and conquest started to get a bad rep. Why is that? Except that our lefty friends have very little to say about Stalin and Mao. Mistakes were made, I guess.
On the other hand, big government, run by the educated class and the best and brightest, has gone from strength to strength. Government, according to Brit founder of the welfare state William Beveridge, could change the world.
His vision was to battle against what he called the five giants; idleness, ignorance, disease, squalor and want.
With lots of Big Government Programs. How’s that going, Bill?
And how is the “erasure” of white middle-class culture going, lefties?
